Teachers’ Professional Development Needs and Barriers: Turkey Case

This study, drawing on the Turkey data from TALIS 2018, examines teachers’ need for professional development and their perceived barriers to development. It provides insights into differences in perceptions according gender, seniority, school level variables. Concerning development, female teachers reported higher needs student behaviors classroom management while male noted significantly pedagogical competencies teaching subject field knowledge of curriculum. The results show that all have multicultural multilingual setting. However, new indicated than veteran teachers. Lack employer support irrelevant activities are as two preventing attain except one, denoted by novice lack time due family responsibilities is observed causes significant teachers' matter pedagogy barriers. Relying results, research implications providers maximize effectiveness
